Profile - a little about me

My ugly mug...
Nothing to see here, move along...

For the terminally interested, I'm a product of the dying 60s, and my current occupation mostly involves teaching various scientific topics, and chemistry in particular to university students.  My undergraduate degree was from the University of Otago, in New Zealand, and I finished my Ph.D. at Sheffield in the UK in 1994.

In the second half of the 90s, I played a lot of DBM ancients games in 15mm scale, especially during the 3 years I lived in Christchurch, but that ceased when I moved back to Japan in 2000, which has cut down considerably on my gaming options.

In theory, I could get around this by doing more on-line gaming, but in practice, I like playing across a table, face to face. I do play some games on the computer, but they tend to be solo affairs, and most often not actual wargames; they are for when I am feeling too lazy to pick up a paint brush (yes, like most figure gamers, I have a lead mountain threatening to collapse the bottom of one of my cupboards...)
